Temecula Stake Earns Faith, Family and Freedom Float Award for Fourth of July Parade

Temecula -  The Temecula stake recently took first place in the religious category for their float - Faith, Family and Freedom - in the city's annual 4th of July parade in Old Town, Temecula.  Their float consisted of a 25 flag salute commemorating the anniversary of Temecula's Star Spangled parade. Approximately 25 Boy Scouts, 30 Cub Scouts and 14 active duty military and veterans of the Temecula stake participated that day in honor of those who serve to preserve the faith, family and freedom in our great country and throughout the world.

Trumpeter, and Eagle Scout, James Anderson, played “My Country Tis of Thee” in tribute to all servicemen including his Father Captain Anderson – military police task force commander stationed in Helmand Province, Afghanistan.  James is a recent graduate of Chaparral High School.

Mormon Night with The Padres 2014

Stake Directors of Public Affairs and some of their community partners were honored on the field in a pregame ceremony at Mormon Night with the Padres.  The ceremony was in recognition of the 29476 hours of service performed by people at 57 different projects in the San Diego, Imperial and South Riverside counties for the Mormon Helping Hands/Community Day of Service on April 26. Tickets to the event, which included a fireworks show, were sold only online, and publicized on social media.

New Eagle Scouts Aaron Banta, Tim Burton, Clinton McCardell and Eric Prescott, from Sweetwater Stake Troop 359, presented the colors.  These four boys, accompanied by two future Eagle Scouts, have recently completed their Eagle Scout requirements, graduated from high school, and one, Eric Prescott has already has his mission call to the Spain Malaga Mission.

BYU graduate and finalist on the popular TV show The Voice, Ryan Innes, performed the National Anthem. The rendition was so smooth, people just listened rather than sing along.

The BYU Management Society San Diego Chapter, who sponsors Mormon Night with the Padres, hosted a tailgate party prior to the game.  Those who stopped by had an opportunity to learn about the BYUMS while enjoying a free hotdog and beverage before heading over to watch the Padres game and Summer Skyblast Fireworks show.
