Stake Directors of Public Affairs and some of their
community partners were honored on the field in a pregame ceremony at Mormon
Night with the Padres. The ceremony was in recognition of the 29476 hours of service performed by
people at 57 different projects in the San Diego ,
Imperial and South Riverside counties for the Mormon Helping Hands/Community Day of Service on April 26. Tickets
to the event, which included a fireworks show, were sold only online, and publicized on social media.
New Eagle Scouts Aaron Banta, Tim Burton, Clinton McCardell
and Eric Prescott, from Sweetwater Stake Troop 359, presented the colors. These four boys, accompanied by two future
Eagle Scouts, have recently completed their Eagle Scout requirements, graduated
from high school, and one, Eric Prescott has already has his mission call to
the Spain Malaga Mission.
BYU graduate and finalist on the popular TV show The Voice, Ryan Innes, performed the National Anthem. The rendition was so smooth, people just listened rather than sing along.
The BYU Management Society San Diego Chapter, who sponsors Mormon Night with the Padres, hosted a tailgate party prior to the game. Those who stopped by had an opportunity to learn about the BYUMS while enjoying a free hotdog and beverage before heading over to watch the Padres game and Summer Skyblast Fireworks show.
