How often have you found yourself doing
something you had no intention of doing? That would describe me, and the
beginning of an LDS Public Affairs blog. Like you, I didn't need anything
else to do. But, sitting quietly one morning, the idea came, quickly
followed by ways it could help those who serve in public affairs, and others
who like to know what is happening in Church Public Affairs, and specifically,
in their areas.
Understand, although some information will be
"official" regarding public affairs events in your area, or the
larger area mentioned above, this is not an official site for the Church of
Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. So, what is it?
San Diego Mormon Herald is a place for members
of public affairs councils, within our region, to share relevant content and
for members and non-members to participate, with civility, in the
conversations.
Postings will be found here for some of our
large area events, such as the Mormon Battalion Commemoration, Mormon Helping
Hands Day of Service, Mormon Night with the Padres, and the beautiful Sights
and Sounds of Christmas. Additionally, we will post links to things of
interest from the Church, and feature posts from various members of our Public
Affairs Council.
Members of Stake Public Affairs Councils are
always busy with their own activities. We invite them to post their
activities and stories on the blog, allowing members from other stakes to
participate, or just get ideas from the successful events of another stake.
Participation is easy. In order to view or comment on the blog, go to sandiegomormonherald.blogspot.com. To submit something for posting to the blog, email text to dayletedrow@gmail.com. Please include "blog" in the subject line.
So, alas, a go to place to learn and share information to benefit us all. It will be just as good as we make it!
